On 23 February 2021, I was administered the J and J vaccine as part of the Sisonke project. This took place at the Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, Johannesburg. This is the third biggest hospital in world. As a healthcare worker I was given the vaccine as part of South Africa’s first vaccination drive across the country. According to the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, the number of health care workers vaccinated under the Sisonke Protocol as of 6.00 pm on that same date was 32,315.
